READING HOSPITAL | COGENERATION FACILITY
OVERVIEW

Mainstay provided structural design of Reading Hospital’s new cogeneration facility, used for steam and electric power generation. Located on a steep grade, this 6,000 SF building is designed to retain up to 12 FT of soil on three sides. The 26 FT high walls are reinforced concrete that support steel roof joists which clear span the entire 60 FT wide building. A 3” light-weight concrete slab on metal deck forms the roof diaphragm. The project also included foundations/anchorage for boilers and generators, equipment access pads and equipment pick points.
