OVERVIEW

Mainstay provided structural services for the addition and renovation of  several historic stone and brick residences located on the campus.  The project involved modifying the homes into dormitory style living with large recreational areas and separate living quarters for the assigned house parents.  The designs included masonry wall restoration and preservation, timber floor and roof assessments for total replacement or partial reinforcement, as the individual house required. 

The Milton Hershey School is a cost-free, private, coeducational home and school for children from families of low income, limited resources, and social need. Milton Hershey School offers a positive, structured home life year-round and an excellent pre-kindergarten through 12th grade education.  Mainstay provided structural engineering services which enabled the successful restoration and re-use of several beloved historic student residences that had fallen into disrepair.
